Statistics
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has a web page with links to various sources of data.
The Illinois Department of Public Health produces data about work-related fatal and nonfatal injuries for studies coordinated by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Department of Insurance produces data about workers' compensation insurance.
The National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI) produces data on workers' compensation benefit payments.
The National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) produces data on the frequency of injury, average cost per injury, etc.
The Workers' Compensation Research Institute conducts studies of states' systems.

The North Carolina Industrial Commission has a great page of links to the workers' compensation agencies in all 50 states.
Other Government Agencies
The Illinois Department of Employment Security pays benefits to eligible unemployed workers.
The Illinois Department of Insurance regulates insurance companies that write workers' compensation policies in Illinois, and approves group self-insurers.
The Illinois Department of Labor enforces laws related to minimum wage, overtime, child labor, farm labor, etc.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has a workplace safety and health page.
The U.S. Department of Labor handles workers' compensation programs for federal employees.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) establishes and enforces safety standards for coal mine workers.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) establishes and enforces safety standards for the 100 million U.S. workers and their 6 1/2 million employers. The OSHA report forms are also available.
Other Organizations
The Illinois Center for Injury Prevention at the University of Illinois operates as a resource for injury research and prevention.
The International Labour Organization operates an occupational safety and health program.
The National Safety Council in Itasca, Illinois maintains a safety library, publishes injury statistics and safety bulletins, and operates safety training programs.
