Board Meeting

There are four boards under the Workers' Compensation Commission authority. All board meetings are open to the public and are held in accordance with the Open Meetings Act. See the Governor's Appointment website for more detailed information about State boards and commissions or refer to the IWCC Act or Rules.

Self-Insurers Advisory Board

The Self-Insurers Advisory Board reviews applications from private companies for the self-insurance privilege and makes recommendations to the chairman of the Commission. The board also ensures the continued payment of benefits to workers of bankrupt self-insurers.

Self-Insurance Advisory Board Members

The chairman of the Commission chairs the SIAB and appoints six other members who are experts in workers' compensation self-insurance. One of the six members represents the general public. Members serve a four-year term, or until they are reappointed or their successors are named.

Workers' Compensation Advisory Board

The Workers' Compensation Advisory Board assists the IWCC in formulating policies, solving problems, setting expenditure priorities, and establishing administrative goals. Prior to making appointments, the Governor shall request that the WCAB make recommendations as to candidates to consider for appointment and the Advisory Board may then make such recommendations. the Board also gives the IWCC chairman a list of arbitrators who will conduct voluntary arbitration upon request.

Workers’ Compensation Commission

The Commission administers Workers’ Compensation and Occupational Diseases Acts that provide compensation for accidental injuries or death suffered while employed in the state.

There are 10 members of the Commission, each appointed by the Governor by and with the consent of the Senate. Three of the commissioners represent employers, three represent employees and four (one being the Chairman) are public representatives.

The Workers' Compensation Medical Fee Advisory Board the IWCC on the establishment of fees for medical services and the accessibility of medical treatment.

Medical Fee Advisory Board Members

The Medical Fee Advisory Board consists of nine members appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Three members represent employees, three represent employers, and three represent medical providers.
